Great Electric Guitars, the company sets the standard for rock guitars. So why not get one for your child.
Fender Childrens Guitars for Kids
Fender is arguably one of the most well known guitar manufacturers, and you were probably quite pleased to find that they produce guitars for kids as well as for adults. The company was founded by Clarence Leonidas “Leo” Fender way back in 1946 in Fullerton, California.
Fender is probably most famous for being the first guitar company to offer a mass-produced solid-body Spanish-style electric guitar, namely the Telecaster, as well as offering the first mass-produced electric bass guitar. Obviously it wasn’t the first company to actually produce these types of guitar (other companies had been producing them since the 1920s) but it was the first to mass produce them commercially with great success.
The brand is still very much a popular choice among well known bands and musicians today in a variety of genres, and some long time Fender players that you’ll no doubt recognize include Kurt Cobain, Jimi Hendrix, Bruce Springsteen, David Gilmour and Eric Clapton. And that’s without mentioning a lot of other famous names!
Much like other guitar manufacturers, Fender also produce a variety of other stringed instruments such as banjos, mandolins and electric violins, as well as amplifiers for both electric guitars and basses. And more importantly, they have a great range aimed directly at a younger audience and those with a more limited budget. Their “Squier” range offers some fantastic introductory models that are great for kids and generally those just starting out. So whether you’re after an acoustic or electric guitar for your child, it’s worth checking out Fender’s Squier range and of course you can find reviews of the various models on this website.
As for build quality, the Fender child guitars are up there with the best. They feel nice and solid and certainly look the part. Play quality is good, as you would expect and, bearing in mind how affordable the guitars are, they very much over deliver on expectations. There are a variety of colors and designs to choose from and they generally just look like miniature versions of the “real thing”, which of course essentially they are. All of the guitars for kids appear to have a high quality finish, something that some of the other brands can’t guarantee.
Overall, Fender is a popular choice amongst parents looking for kid’s guitars, and also for adults themselves. And rightly so. They’re one of the most famous names in the business, and all for the right reasons. If your child has any interest in the guitar industry or perhaps some favorite bands that use Fenders, then they’ll likely be chuffed to bits to have a Fender of their own, or at least they will in due course!
We’d like to say that if you can afford the extra cost, then go for a Fender, but to be honest, there is no extra cost! Some models are perhaps a bit more pricey but for the most part you can expect to pay as much for a Fender child guitar as you would for a kids guitar by another manufacturer. So really they’re a no brainer!
